GROIN ANATOMY Groin pain is a common problem in sports particularly those that involve rapid acceleration, cutting manoeuvers and kicking Injuries can be broadly defined categorised into causes above and below the inguinal ligament Causes above include inguinal hernia and tears of the aponeurotic attachment of the abdominal wall muscles (sportmans hernia)
Causes below include injuries to the pubic plate, pubic symphysis and adductor attachment The important and it anatomical structures are identified in the adjacent diagrams
